STAR WARS IV A NEW HOPE: COLLECTOR'S SET. WEST END GAMES. YEAR: 2014

Long time ago in a galaxy far far away....

Yes! Welcome to the Star Wars universe! Radical change and new topic for our little corner on the Internet. And you will probably be wondering: Star Wars at Grupo Afternoon blog? Yes it is, because one of our customers has ordered us a rare and beautiful miniatures collection from the 80s, a line of sets that the company West End Games launched about Star Wars the Roleplaying Game. The miniatures are modeled in 25 mm, a smaller scale of what we use to see in this kind of board-games. However, they have surprised us because of the level of details and because they reproduce very accurately the films, even when they are more than 25 years old.
On these sets we can find each one of the characters of the films, no matter how long their scripts were. For example, we have in our workshop waiting to be painted the Moss Eisley cantina musicians, Tusken raiders or dancers from Jabba the Hutt's palace. You cannot miss any of our post about this work because it promises to be amazing.

The first set that we have completed is the one about Star Wars IV a new hope film, which is composed by 10 miniatures: Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbaca, Obi-Wan Kenobi, R2-D2, C3-PO, one X-Wing pilot and two rebel soldiers.
As you will see, they are pretty good modeled in metal. We have tried to copy the same clothes that appear in the movies. Let's start with an overview of the whole bunch of miniatures and then focus on each one. Enjoy!

Star Wars IV a new hope overview.

LUKE SKYWALKER

This model represents a young Luke Skywalker when he still wasn't a Jedi Knight and was living in Tattoine, planet where he grew up after being adopted by a farmer family thanks to Obi-Wan Kenobi. The old Jedi was trying to hide Luke from his evil father Darth Vader.

PRINCESS LEIA ORGANA

Luke's sister and a influential senator. She was wearing that white dress when Darth Vader assaulted her spaceship the Tantive IV.

HAN SOLO

The inestimable smuggler that transports Obi-Wan, Luke and the droids out of Tattoine on his legendary spaceship: the Milleniun Falcon. After some first difficult moments, Han became the best friend of Luke saving him in the Death Star trench from a Tie squadron.

CHEWBACCA

A Wookie who fighted with Yoda during the Clone Wars. Later he would become close friend of Han Solo, helping him in all his adventures. As you can see, he carries his famous bowcaster.

OBI-WAN KENOBI

Legendary Jedy Knight, general of the Republic armies and master of Darth Vader. He lived in Tattoine looking after Luke in order to hide him from the Empire. Here you can see an old Obi-Wan with his cloak and his blue lightsaber.

R2-D2

This small astromech droid is more brave and valueable that it seems. Leia put inside it the new secret weapon plans of the Empire: the Death Star. Luke y Obi-Wan will have to deliver the droid to the Rebel Alliance in order to destroy this new threat.

C3-PO

This protocol droid built by Anakin Skywalker is literally the shadow of R2-D2. Both of them were on board of the Tantive IV and were launched to Tattoine by Leia in order to save the Death Star plans. Always afraid of everything, it will save its friends more than once.

X-WING PILOT

X-wing pilots are between the most valuable resources of the Rebel Alliance. Thanks to them and their legendary starfighters, the Death Star was destroyed. Here you can see a pilot with his regular equipment as they fought at Yavin IV.

 REBEL SOLDIERS

These brave soldiers are among the most basic and common Rebel Alliance troops. These wear the same clothes that the ones that were escorting Princess Leia in the Tantive IV.

Those huge helmets and 80's clothes marked a Star Wars fan generation.

And here ends this post. Soon we will be back with more Star Wars models that will be as great as the ones of today. We are sure you will recognize all of them.
Do not miss any of our works!

Regards from the whole crew!
