DRAGON PRINCES OF CALEDOR. PREMIUM LEVEL. YEAR: 2015.

This unit of Dragon Princes arrives directly from their homeland Caledor, a wild nation close to the huge Annulli peaks where Dragons sleep for centuries even milennium. Their ancesters used to go to battle mounted on poweful dragons. Unfortunately these beasts now are just few in number so the Prince Dragons must ride on elven steeds and wear dragon-shaped armors.

The white and red escheme of colors is followed by our customer on his army. Check out that combines pretty well with the golden details.

The unit command gruop highlight over the rest because the yield different equipment.

The banner has a free hand of our customer's army emblem: the great Legio VII

This haughty Lord of Dragons is the unit leader and an experimented warriors who has fought in thousands of battles.

DIORAMA: AENUR SWORD OF TWILIGHT VS THE UNDERTAKER. YEAR: 2015.

Somthing moves among the ruins of Mordheim. A soft creak opens the cemetery door and an imperceptible flash sneaks quietly through the gravestones. It is said that his sword is so fast that other elves cannot follow it reflection and so sharpened that even Gromril armuors are pierced like fine paper. Fear the Mordheim champion because Aenur, Sword of Twilight is nearby and your band could be slaughtered in seconds. Welcome to the city of the damned, welcome to Mordheim:

And so it is because the post of today is very special. We bring you a new diorama that was proclamated WINNER of the Duel/Diorama/Open category from Games Workshop Zaragoza 2015 painting contest.
It is a very curious scene because presents a dark and dismal environment. If the devastated city of Mordheim is something that the bravest warriors fear, imagine its cemetery. What a vile and terrifying beasts and living death can dwell among the abandoned tombs!

But first let's talk about the model that appear. Between them there is one of the most emblematic Mordheim characters: Aenur, Sword of Twilight. He is a mercenery and the toughest hero of the game, at least at its original version. The model is a trully Games Workshop icon.
The other character is the cemetery undertaker, a mad and unhinged human that still dwells among the ruins of Mordheim protecting something that was an honored job for him in the old days. The duel they both fight is just epic

Aenur has been masterly painted using airbrush both his cloak and sword in order to create the reflections that the moonlight produces on it. In addition the armour and metallic parts have been performed with non metallic metal technique.

On the other side, the undereaker is a model performed from an imperial Flagellant. We have added some extra elements built with modeling putty such as the shield ot the hat. It is a very funny miniature that fits perfectly in the diorama.

We have care about the atmosphere because we wanted to develop this duel under the moonlight. Walls, ground and gravestones have been painted with airbrush but we haven't wanted to light too much any element in order to emphasize darkness.

As a abandoned graveyard, almost all the vegetation is already dead and has invaded the space where people use to walk. You can find from death fallen leaves all over the floor to withered bushes and trees.

One of the best works we have performed lately and we are very happy to repeat this phrase often. What's your opinon? Do you like it? Leave us your comments below and remember that any opinion is welcome.
Thanks for your time and greetings!

TYRION, PRINCE ALTHRAN AND HANDMAIDEN OF THE EVERQUEEN. YEAR: 2015.

FOR THE PHOENIX KING AND THE EVERQUEEN!

The glory of Ulthuan and the High Elves have always been legendary. From their island in the middle of the Great Ocean, they have improved for milleniums all kind of arts including their feared High Magic. Nothing escapes to their spy network nor their powefull army. Feel this week the mighty presence of this elegant race with three new models that represent some of their most powerful characters:

Take a look of these magnificent models. Prince Tyrion along Althran and a Handmaiden of the Everqueen form this great order painted masterly by Santi. Soon they will join to their other elven partners as this Lothern Skycutter.
It calls your attention their unusual scheme of colors. As we can appreciate, High Elves not only look impressive in white and blue but also are great with an aggresive color such us red.
Now please relax and enjoy with us these three masterpieces:

PRINCE TYRION, DEFENDER OF ULTHUAN.

Tyrion is the mightiest High Elf alive. He has protected Ulthuan several times from the evil Druchii and has earned for that the favor of the Phoenix King. He wears multiple magic items such as the Dragon Armour of Aenarion and wields Sunfang. If you have recently read the Games Workshop campaign The End Times, Tyrion is one of its main characters.

Gold is the main color along with red in our customer's army. White has been applied with different bases in order to differenciate clothes and fur of Malhandir.

Our customer demanded us to remove the Dark Elf at the base and exchange it for soil with grass. We have added as well many broken object around Tyrion.

PRINCE ALTHRAN

One of the best High Elves hero on foot released by Games Workshop. You all know the figure of the High Elves prince mounted on gryphon from Island of Blood. He is Prince Althran. This model was designed to be used in case the gryphon would be destroyed (something easy to happen).

As you see, we have used the same colors to get coherence with Tyrion. Again Santi has performed a fantastic job with the red and specially with white. If you realize, it starts in a very light grey and goes until pure white. You'll see it better in the picture of the shield below.

Do yo see the light grey around the icon?

HANDMAIDEN OF THE EVERQUEEN.

Another model that was realeased with the 8th High Elves Codex. This character (which has pretty bad rules) offers a dinamic posture and inspires lightness with her fine female shapes: her hips, her tiny arms and legs... Long time ago since I get mine!

The Handmaiden is more colorful than her previous mates adding more metal and brown shades to the composition. As we said before, she is a very nice model to place in your showcase.

We are very pleased with the outcomes of this order. The same thing has expressed our customer! If you paint High Elves you must be specially careful because cleanliness is part of this race.
To sum up, we hope you enjoyed these figures as much as we did painting them.
Until our next post!

AENUR, THE SWORD OF TWILIGHT. YEAR: 2015.

As we told you in our previous post about Josef Bugman and the dwarf adventurers, some popular models complete our customer's order. Today, Aenur the Sword of Twilight, one of the best Mordheim merceneries and deadly swordsman, arrives here.

Aenur follows the original Games Workshop scheme of color when in 1999 this company launched Mordheim. He even appears in the 6th edition High Elves codex within the 'Eavy Metal section. The legend tells that Aenur is a wandering Shadow Warrior prince.
Althought the cloak doesn't follow the traditional Shadow Warrior colors, the rest of the equippment does. Aenur wears pretty light clothes and armor, allowing him to move very quick.

Check out the base as if he would be in the city Mordheim.

The shadows and lights performed at the cloak hve been very well done.

This Aenur is very well painted but we have another one already done. We are preparing a special base for him. When it be ready we will upload it and you will see what a beauty! We just have to find some free time.
In the meantime, soon we will come back with the last two models that complete this order. Are you going to miss them?

HIGH ELF NOBLE ON PEGASUS. YEAR: 2015.

Check out the last curious model we have just finished. It is a conversion about a High Elf Noble mounted on Pegasus. It is certainly something rare to find because High Elves doesn't have Pegasus in their army lists since 5th edition. Anyway, the model looks pretty good, don't you think?

If you pay attention, rider and mount have been extracted from the High Elf Prince and Noble box and from the Bretonnian Pegasus Knight. The scheme of colors performed is the same followed in previous orders because our customers wants his High Elves in a determinated pattern: dark red, gold and white. You can see another example in this Lothern Skycutter.
Finally, we have decorated the base with some extra elements.

In addition, our customer has based his High Elves icon and banner in a roman legion. You can see this in the shields in both sides of the pegasus and at the base. All of them are "free hands".

If we analyze its possible skills on the battlefield, it can be a real headache for the enemy. Thanks to its extreme mobility, can threat the flanks and the rear of weak unit, mages, war machines... Of course, it will be a magnet for missile attacks, so we must protect it pretty well.

All comments are welcome! We hope you like it and...see you in our next post!

DRAGON MAGE OF CALEDOR. HIGH ELVES. YEAR: 2015.

An indomitable and impulsive Dragon Mage of Caledor mounted on his Sun Dragon arrived some time ago to our workshop in order to be painted. Finally, his hour has come and we already can show it here. In fact we were anxious to perform this famous High Elves model which one of us has as part of his army. Unfortunately, we don't have much time for personal painting projects...
Anyway, be welcome to this spectacular post about dragons and magic!

For this huge miniature, our customer didn't want something too much complicated about the scheme of colors. We have just followed the classic blue and white High Elves shades and a red color for the Dragon skin (it is a Sun Dragon at the end) very tipicial of the Caledor beasts. The rest is made by the model itself, with such an impressive posture spreading its wings and flying away. Its psychological effects on the battlefield are obviuos but at the same time fits great placing it in a showcase leading your high elves army.
As a curiosity, the Dragon Mage has been magnetized in order to exchange its two possible riders: the High Elves Prince and the Dragon Mage of Caledor. Let's see this model detail by detail:

One of the most important parts is the dragon head. We especially like the horns and the eye.

I wouldn't like to see something like this in front of me!

In this picture you can see the whole Dragon Mage from the other side. Here we can appreciate better the wings and the white clothes. In addition, the vegetation of the base offers some green spots that fit great with the red skin of the beast.

Airbrush has been crucial in this project. You can sense its effects in the dragon skin and the white clothes

For the base, we have wanted to differentiate the rocks and the earth by painting them with different colors. This gives more variety to the composition. If you realize, earth doesn't distune with the dragon wings and skin.

Finally we want to show an overview of the whole Dragon Mage. As you see it is pretty small if we want to catch its real size in one photo.

Without doubt it has been a tough work but worth it. We can already say that we have painted this miniature! Not everyday we have the chance to paint a dragon nor upload a nice post like the one of today. We hope you like it and... regards!

PS.: The painter wants to dedicate this post to Ines and her newborn Nicolás.
