TYRANID CARNIFEX AND ZOANTHROPE. YEAR: 2015.

¡RUN AWAY! ¡¡TYRANIDS XENOS INCOMING!!

There it is because 2 terrible alien beasts created only to destroy are the two miniatures that we have painted: a dreadful Carnifex and a Zoanthrope. Both show very well the philosophy of this army: the supreme adaptation and combination between brutality and psychic powers. So we invite you to stay and enjoy these two masterpieces:

As you see, these Tyranids call your attention due to the chosen colors. If you already follow us from a time we are sure you can remember more aliens with this scheme. Otherwise, let us refresh your memory:

- Tervigon, Lictor and Venomthrope.

- Hormagaunt and Termagant brood.

Our customer is getting step by step a nice horde of Tyranids. We always say it as a curiosity because

the combination of colors is pretty odd. If you check the section "army of the month" within the White Dwarf #213, you will find an army with the same scheme which has been the inspiration to perform these models.

Another point: they don't have their bases completed. That's an explicit request from our customer that loves to decacorate by himself all his model bases.  

TYRANID CARNIFEX

Let's begin with the giant of chitin, bones and muscles. The Carnifex is one of the most powerful tyranid creatures and well respected by all their foes. They have high strength, resistence and wounds, perfect to charge against vehicles.

We really like the combination of different claws that our customer has chosen for his Carnifex. They give them a brutal appearance.

In this photo it is shown closer all the fine lines and progressive changes of color made in the chitin armor. Check out how it goes from Scorched Brown to Bleached Bone in the most external points where the light is more intense.

TYRANID ZOANTHROPE

The Zoanthrope is a beast created by the Hive Mind in order to control their armies when they are far from its psychic aura. Althought they are slow and weak in close combat, they are capable to launch a formidable psychic power in the battlefield. In addition, their 3+ ward make them very resistent.

Without doubt we love the contrasts between bronw, green, yellow and pinks colors.

TERVIGON, LICTOR & VENOMTHROPE. YEAR: 2015.

An organic tide of bones, muscles and chitin has invaded our blog! Tyranids strike back with a huge Tervigon, a sneaky Lictor and a toxic Venomthope, all of them painted with a pretty odd scheme of colors of what we use to see in this fierce race. 

This is a special post because it is the first one performed completely by our new painter, Miguel. Congratulations for these great results.

But, let's focus on the models: if you remember last year, we already painted a Termagant brood and an Exocrine with the same scheme, which is based in the one that appears in the old White Dwarf #213. Its section "Army of the Month" has a splendid Tyranid army quite similar to the one of today. Dark brown and yellow applied at the chitin armor contrast perfectly with the green skin. If we add some pink for the organic parts, we get this rare scheme few seen in the battlefields. 

TERVIGON

The most spectacular monster is this Tyranid Tervigon. Thanks to it size and forcefulnes, this model will be one of the best among our customer's Tyranids army. If you pay attention at its belly, a new Termagant is being created.

Here you can see closer how the chitin armor has been painted. In addition, the belly muscles can be much better appreciated in this pic.

We love this photo. Check out how the Termgant is getting out of the belly. A very good point that performed the painter is to apply a wash over the new "babyborn" with Nurgle's Rot, a Games Workshop Technical color. This paint creates a mucous effect perfect to simulate the birth of a new Termagant.

This Tervigon is walking over some rocks in its relentless way toward the enemy. Our customer is applying a desertic appearance to his army and we thought that some death bushes would be great for the base.

LICTOR

As you all know, this terrible beast is always one of the first to be deployed during a Tyranid planetary invasion. It prefers to hunt alone, identifying weak points in the enemy and attacking only when it knows it can win. Using mimicry techniques, Lictors are the terror of the Imperial Guard, especially within jungles.

Nurgle's Rot has been applied too on its pincers and tentacles of its mouth.

Without doubt, one of the most dangerous and crafty beasts of the Tyranid army.

VENOMTHROPE

These Tyranid monters emit poisonous clouds from the conducts of their backs. In close combat they are a anti-infantry unit due to its high iniciative, their "poisoned 2+" rule and "obscured target".

Once again, we have used Nurgle's Rot at its tentacles.

TYRANIDS: HORMAGAUNT AND TERMAGANT BROOD. YEAR: 2014

As we told you in our last post about the Warhammer Fantasy Caos, this week we have been working on a small Tyrant brood. We have painted 8 Hormagaunts and 2 Termagants.

If you pay attention at them, they have a peculiar scheme of colors, adapted to combats in the jungle. It may sound to some of you because this patron is the same that appeared a few months ago in the White Dwarf 213, section "army of the month".

Most of you will have realized that bases are not decorated. This is an specific order from the customer who is a passionate fan of creating his own scenery, change and decorate his models and bases.

As we were saying, it is a curious scheme, completely different of how we use to see Tyranids. However, it fits them really good. Using brown and green, which are nearly complementery colors, creates a contrast between organic and armor elements. Let's see them closer:

TYRANID HORMAGAUNT

Hormagaunts are along with Termagants, the spine of each Tyranid Hive Fleet. They are the first creatures to be deployed over the invaded planet in order to finish with any resistance from the enemy. However, they are inept psichically speaking, and must be carried to battle by the Tyranid Warriors and supported by heavier bioforms such as Carnifex.

TYRANID TERMAGANT

Termagants change the scything talons of their forelimbs for missile bio-weapons which have a symbiothic relationship between them. These weapons are a good anti-personnel support in close combat.

EXOCRINE, TYRANIDS. YEAR: 2014

Summer comes along with bugs.

The next model is the first of what we expect will be a long serie of Tyranids. Today we bring and Exocrine painted with a green and brown scheme of colors:

We have added an elaborated base because a model like that deserves it. 

We have performed with airbrush and ink the green color. A system that fits really good with big miniatures.

We have chosen a very showy red color for the cannon in order to get a high contrast between the green, brown and red.

The shell  hasn't been too much difficult to perform, but we to admit that has been a tedious work.

In our next post we are going to upload something different of what we use to do. We will bring a model that perfectly could be included in a Vampire Counts army but we are sure nobody of you have seen it before! You cannot miss it!

SPACE HULK TYRANIDS AND LIBRARIAN CALISTARIUS . YEAR: 2012.

Get ready for the... TYRANIDS!!

Hello everyone!
We are really pleased and satisfied about the work that we have performed last week. We have finished the rest of our Space Hulk request:
- 22 Genestealers.
- 1 Broodlord.
- 1 Librarian Calistarius.
- 1 dead Terminator Space Marine on a throne.

It's been a tough work and longer than we expected. These miniatures are complicated and full of details, not only at the bases. But apart of this, we have to recognize that all of them are great, very dinamic and together they offer an espectacular vision.

Our client wanted his Genestealers painted like in the original set box. He wanted to change just one thing: the Genestealer's claws must be painted with a "Bleached Bone" weathered instead of the original black. And we have to recognize that they look really nice with that. We have also added at the bases some electric wires and some rusted  iron sheets, apart of the details that they already include to give coherence with the Blood Angels Terminator squads. Of course, we highlight the Broodlord base as he deserves. Painting them with dark colours with those rusted details make the bases adquire a great environment of desolated spaceship.

Talking about the Librarian Calistarius and the dead Terminator miniature, we have also painted them like in the original box with the same decoration for the bases. We have included the Librarian shoulder pad "free hand" as well.

Each Tyranid has practically his own details, so we want to show you a couple of them by photo. In this way you will be able to see their details more accurately.

We love these Tyranids, the one which is licking the Terminator's head and the one which comes out breaking the ground.

We wanted to highlight the only Tyranid hero that this request included (the Broodlord), so we have added even more details to his base. Pay attention because they are not randomly placed: electric wires form a pentagon which guide you and highlight what it's inside.

Now we shift of army. We want to introduce you the Librarian Calistarius, leader of the Terminator Squads.
Check out all the datails that he has like the axe, the cables or diferent parchments throughout his armor.

And finally, to end this request, the dead Terminator on a throne. We really like this miniature. His pose is very dinamic and realistic. Just great.

To sum up, a varied request full of complex miniatures with many details which we have used several interesting techniques and enjoyed painting their bases.
