Ogre Kingdoms battalion that includes a unit of 6 Iron Guts, 6 Ogres and 4 Leadbelchers. All of them have been placed in a very cold and frozen environment with plenty of snow at their bases. Enjoy!

OGRE AND MARAUDERS OF CHAOS. YEAR: 2014.

Once again we are back with more servants of the dark gods. Full of transformations, muscles and brutality some of you can also get some inspiration for your own armies. It is a new delivery of... Marauders of Chaos!

Here you have the new order that we have completed. As you see it is a nice bunch of Khorne Marauders but if you pay attention, you will see that just a few bits are from the original Marauders box (exepting torsos and horses). Our customer loves to transformate his units making them uniques. For example, watch how the miniatures of today could fit along with these Marauder and Marauder Horsemen of Chaos that we painted for him a couple of months ago. They are definetly great.

Inspired on Conan the Barbarian, the backstory of our customer's army is a Norsemen tribe but a little bit evolved than the common Warhammer one, which are mainly composed by infantry and light cavalry. They live in the icy north: highlands desolated by the cold and the corrupted magic of Chaos. Why they wouldn't be able to mutate or tame wild beasts? And...do you know any Warhammer Fantasy made of wild beasts or mountains of muscles? Yes: Ogre Kingdoms. The Ogre Kingdoms boxes are a bottomless pit of pieces for our customer that has created a pair of Marauders mounted on Mournfangs and a Chaos Ogre from the body of a Beastmen Doombull.

But...why we don't see each model one by one? In that way you will be able to see their multiple details.
Let's begin with the Marauders mounted on Mourfangs. The first thing that call you attention is the small size of the rider compared with the Mournfang. This gives to the miniature a look of brutality about what they can loose in close combat. In order to control the terrible beasts, our customer has included chains from the fangs to the hands of the Marauders.

It is great how he has combined the Ogre Kingdoms and Marauders pieces. For example, we are sure that you haven't paid attention at the different size of the torsos and the legs (that belong to an Ogre). The spear comes from the Ogres standard bearer.

The second Mournfang is pretty similar to the first one, but the posture changes a bit. As you see the horns painted in yellow and white and the red of Khorne highlight over the grey present in the most part of the model. The base has been decorated according to the backstoy of the army: snow.

OGRE OF CHAOS

Norsemen has plenty of legends. One of the most popular tells that silly brats that get lost into the deserts of Chaos never return. Well...those rumors are not fully true. One of those kids came back...and he wasn't skinny anymore.

This great conversion of a Beastmen Doombull has multiple Ironguts, Mournfang cavalry and Warriors of Chaos bits. Ogres use to go to battle along with the tribes of Marauders, and they are very appreciated by their chiefs: how a barbarian couldn't want a pure mass of iron and muscles among his lines?.

MARAUDER HORSEMEN OF CHAOS

Keeping the same dynamic of previous orders, our customer has ordered us three more Marauder Horsemen. They have been painted in the same way than the firts ones: horses with different colors, red Khorne armors and snowy bases. Result? Judge by yourselves:

A curiosity: the head of this Marauder rider belongs to a Blood Angels Sanguinary Guardian. It fits nice, don't you think?

And finally in order to complete his Marauder unit, our customer wanted four more Marauders on foot. As you will imagine, they are all transformed. Just to name something: legs and heads are from old Warriors of Chaos.  

Hope you like these models as much as we like them! It is great to see what you can get with some motivation and a great variety of pieces. If you add to this blend a good painting, you can get amazing models. Try it at home!

WARHAMMER WORKSHOP AT VALDEFIERRO CIVIC CENTER, ZARAGOZA. YEAR: 2012

This weekend we could celebrate a Warhammer workshop at Valdefierro civic center, a neighborhood of Zaragoza. At the begining it supposed it would be just on Saturday afternoon, but the managers of the center enjoyed what we do so they decided to extend the workshop one more day until Sunday.

In this workshop we have used for the first time a couple of showcases where we placed miniatures of our Hall of Fame from our workshop and a Warhammer 40k Tau contingent that we had hidden around. Moreover, we show some new scenery elements that we have like our arcane architecture that soon you'll see in a post especially dedicated to it and a pair of new forest. We decided to replace the ones that we had almost destroyed. Too many battles!

Besides the little exhibition, the workshop included the clasicc battle where a Imperial detachment had an encounter against an Ogre horde and a table to paint miniatures (kids could enjoy their first miniatures and gave the best of them).

Of course, it was a great experience and we hope we could repeat it again soon.

Diorama that we haave built during this summer. This event was a very nice place to show it out of our workshop.

A novelty in our activities. Along with the new diorama and the already classic Ogre Arena, you can see a couple of methacrylate showcases. In there we shown Warhammer 40.000 and our "Hall of Fame" miniatures.

We wanted to carry part of our "Hall of Fame" from our workshop and show it. It's composed by miniatures that we have registered in some painting contests.

A small Tau contingent  that we never had shown until now. Maybe you'll begin to see them often!

And that's all. We had two nice afternoons sharing and showing what this hobby is about.

Cooming soon (tomorrow) we have other workshop at Río Gállego High School, a building that we know really good. We hope it will be as great as this one has been.

REPAIRING OUR OGRE ARMY. WARHAMMER FANTASY. YEAR: 2011.

Ogres! Ogres! Ogres!

On Christmas we come back tough! With all this free time, we decided to join the three of us. We were discussing about what we could do on a free Christmas afternoon. The options were to beggin a new scenery project that we are plotting (you'll see when it be done!), play a battle between the armies that participated in our last workshop (Orcs vs Wood Elves; http://atresomas.blogspot.com/2011/12/muestra-taller-en-el-ies-el-portillo-de.html) and then write a battle's report of the crash; or...fix our Ogre army, which was a little bit abandoned .
After a deep meditation, we took our brushes and we started to fix this funny and, definitely, brutal horde.
We hope you enjoy the results!

Overview of our area of work at the beggning of the afternoon. As you can see we had the miniatures practically painted. We just wanted to repaint skins and details (faces, new tattoos, banners and weapons, etc.), apart of improving some bases.

The closest pair of Ogres are just with the skin base paint. We decided to make our Ogres tanned (as every good Ogre should be), applying a 60% Dwarf Fesh and 40% Scorched Brown mix.
Do not miss out of sight the Hunter in the upper-right corner.

Ogres in process. The nearest one is completed, tattoos included (in their backs they have more). The second and third paints has been made degrading more and more the mix we named in the last step, until reach a 90% Dwarf Flesh and 10% Scorched Brown. In the last light we just applyed Dwarf Flesh. 

We had this Ironblaster (painted by Borja Rodríguez Bolea) and this Hunter unfinished. They couldn't stay out of our army! Check that both miniatures doesn't have base or is uncompleted. Moreover, the Hunter has some faults in the paint that we will fix later.



After a couple of hours working, we completed the Ironguts! The banner was neccesary to drill it and join both parts with wire, cause it was broken after some transports. (Check the Ogres skin tone compared with the Hunter's one, much more pale).    

Ogres unit completely fixed. Take a look of the Crusher tattoos details (with hunting trap).

Watch out with those Yhetees! We had the poor Yheetees totally abandoned. After fixing their hands (all of them were out of position) with the drill, we repaired the skin faults and we reshaped the bases to give them coherence with the rest of the army. We painted all their bases with the same colour and we added the snowed grass. Snow on the Yhetees looks great!

What do you think about this completed Hunter? After fixing his paint we added the javelins in his back and modified the base to look like the Yhetees's one. It is quite simple: 1º paint the base with a dark grey and blue mix, 2º apply white glue all over the base and 3º add the grass and chopped polystyrene (in many miniature stores you can find it).

And finally here you have the overview of all our reparations of yesterday.
The Ironblaster in the center, with a base and finished, looks spectacular along with our Tyrant. 



We still have some units to finish, like our Leadbelchers or one Scraplauncher (we neither forget a unit of Gnoblar Fighters and their Trappers). But for an afternoon work it was more than enough. We will upload more photos when we will start with the other units.
This new army will be unstoppable in our next battles and workshops.

The next post will be a tutorial about how to build the barricades, the gate and the totem that the Ogres show in their photos. You'll see how easy and quick is to build and make them look really nice.
