And so it is because the post of today is very special. We bring you a new diorama that was proclamated WINNER of the Duel/Diorama/Open category from Games Workshop Zaragoza 2015 painting contest.
It is a very curious scene because presents a dark and dismal environment. If the devastated city of Mordheim is something that the bravest warriors fear, imagine its cemetery. What a vile and terrifying beasts and living death can dwell among the abandoned tombs!
But first let's talk about the model that appear. Between them there is one of the most emblematic Mordheim characters: Aenur, Sword of Twilight. He is a mercenery and the toughest hero of the game, at least at its original version. The model is a trully Games Workshop icon.
The other character is the cemetery undertaker, a mad and unhinged human that still dwells among the ruins of Mordheim protecting something that was an honored job for him in the old days. The duel they both fight is just epic
Aenur has been masterly painted using airbrush both his cloak and sword in order to create the reflections that the moonlight produces on it. In addition the armour and metallic parts have been performed with non metallic metal technique.
On the other side, the undereaker is a model performed from an imperial Flagellant. We have added some extra elements built with modeling putty such as the shield ot the hat. It is a very funny miniature that fits perfectly in the diorama.
We have care about the atmosphere because we wanted to develop this duel under the moonlight. Walls, ground and gravestones have been painted with airbrush but we haven't wanted to light too much any element in order to emphasize darkness.
As a abandoned graveyard, almost all the vegetation is already dead and has invaded the space where people use to walk. You can find from death fallen leaves all over the floor to withered bushes and trees.
One of the best works we have performed lately and we are very happy to repeat this phrase often. What's your opinon? Do you like it? Leave us your comments below and remember that any opinion is welcome.
Thanks for your time and greetings!
